FanDuel presents a genuine dilemma for an Ontario bettor. On product, it’s arguably the best sportsbook in the province — the app most rivals are measured against, the strongest same-game-parlay pricing, and one of the deepest live-betting menus. On trust, it carries the single most serious penalty the AGCO has issued. This review covers both, honestly, and our own payout benchmark is still pending — so we don’t guess at cashier speed.
The product
FanDuel in Ontario is operated by FanDuel Canada ULC. The brand traces back to a company founded in 2009 in Edinburgh (now headquartered in New York), and it built its scale on daily fantasy sports before becoming the largest sportsbook in the United States by handle. It launched in Ontario when the market opened in April 2022, registered with iGaming Ontario and the AGCO, and runs an Ontario online casino under the same roof.
The defining trait of the FanDuel product is polish. Where some books pile on features, FanDuel’s app feels considered — quick to navigate, fast to load, and easy for a newcomer to understand on day one. It is the book we’d hand to someone placing their first legal bet.
Sports coverage and markets
FanDuel covers the full slate Ontario bettors expect — NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, soccer (including the World Cup 2026), UFC, tennis, golf and more — with the major leagues surfaced for quick access. Its market menu spans moneylines, spreads, totals, futures, and a deep set of player props. The headline feature is parlay construction:
- Same Game Parlay (SGP): combine outcomes within one event.
- SGP+: combine a same-game parlay with legs from other games into a single ticket.
- Boosted odds and in-game offers layered across the markets.
Player props are a particular strength — a legacy of FanDuel’s daily-fantasy roots, where projecting individual performance is the whole game. If you bet player points, rushing yards, shots on goal or strikeouts, the depth and the surfacing of those markets is better than most. For how each sport’s markets actually work, see our guides to soccer, hockey, basketball, football and baseball betting.
Odds competitiveness
FanDuel’s pricing is competitive across the board, and on same-game parlays specifically it’s often the value leader — the market it helped invent. Its straight lines on the NFL, NHL and NBA sit in line with the other large operators. We won’t claim a measured “best odds” edge across every market without a structured study, but FanDuel’s SGP pricing and live markets are genuine strengths. As always, line-shop the big events against a second licensed book.
Cash out and in-play features
FanDuel’s live betting is among the best in Ontario: hundreds of in-play events a day, competitive live odds, live same-game parlays, and early cash out to lock a profit or limit a loss before settlement. The live tab is fast and well-organised, which matters when prices move quickly. For in-game bettors, it’s a top-tier product.
Two practical notes. First, cash out values move with the live price, so the figure you’re offered is itself a market — taking it early is sometimes the right call and sometimes leaves value on the table; there’s no free lunch. Second, FanDuel’s same-game-parlay tools carry into live markets, so you can build correlated in-play tickets — entertaining, but priced with the same compounded margin we flag for every operator’s parlays. Treat live SGPs as entertainment rather than an edge.
Cashier and payouts
FanDuel supports Interac, Visa, Mastercard and PayPal, among other rails. As with every operator, your first withdrawal depends on a one-time KYC identity check, and the rail is only part of the timing — see how Ontario withdrawals work and the KYC process for the full picture.
We have not yet run our own real-money cashout benchmark on FanDuel, so the cashier grid below reads “pending live test” rather than a number we can’t stand behind. A practical tip for new accounts: most Ontario books, FanDuel included, route withdrawals back through your deposit method where possible (the closed-loop rule), so if you want to cash out by Interac, deposit by Interac — and verify your identity early so the first payout isn’t held for a KYC check.
Mobile experience
This is FanDuel’s calling card. Its iOS app is consistently rated among the highest in the entire sportsbook category — fast, stable, and clean, with live betting, streaming, player stats and cash out all integrated. The Android experience is strong too. If the quality of the app is your top priority, FanDuel is the safest pick in the province.
Compliance record
This is where the honesty has to be unflinching, because FanDuel’s record contains the most significant penalty the AGCO has ever issued.
In early 2026, the AGCO imposed a C$350,000 monetary penalty on FanDuel Canada ULC for failing to appropriately identify and report unusual and suspicious betting. Between October 23 and November 30, 2024, FanDuel accepted 144 bets from three Ontario accounts on Czech table-tennis (TT Star Series) matches that displayed multiple indicators associated with match-fixing. Despite those warning signs, FanDuel did not meet its obligation to flag, respond to, and report the activity, and betting on the affected events continued for several weeks. FanDuel has publicly pushed back against the penalty.
We want to be precise about why this matters more than an advertising fine. Several operators — including DraftKings and BetMGM — have been penalised for inducement advertising, which is a marketing-standards issue. FanDuel’s penalty is a betting-integrity failure: the system meant to protect the market from manipulated events did not work as required. That’s a different and more serious category, and it’s the main reason an otherwise class-leading book sits where it does in our ranking. We weight it under our methodology, and we’ll keep this section updated as the matter resolves. By contrast, Bet365 carries no AGCO penalties at all.
For context on the broader rulebook, see our guide to AGCO advertising standards. FanDuel is also confirmed for Alberta when that market opens, which we track on our Alberta 2026 hub.
Where FanDuel fits in the Ontario market
If you ranked Ontario sportsbooks on product alone, FanDuel would be at or near the top: the best app, elite same-game-parlay value, and a live product few rivals match. For a bettor whose priority is a clean, fast, trustworthy interface, it’s an easy recommendation — and for newcomers, it may be the single best starting point in the province.
The reason it isn’t our top overall pick is the integrity penalty, full stop. A sportsbook’s most important job, beyond pricing a market, is running that market with integrity, and in this instance the AGCO found FanDuel fell short — at record cost. Our practical guidance: FanDuel is an excellent account to hold, especially for parlays and live betting, but pair it with a book that carries a cleaner compliance record, and judge the penalty for yourself as it plays out. Every operator we cover is on the iGaming Ontario registry.
The verdict
FanDuel is, on features, the best sportsbook product in Ontario — the top app, the strongest SGP pricing, and a deep live menu. If product polish is what you want, nothing beats it. The reason it sits behind Bet365 and isn’t an unqualified number-one is its compliance record: the record C$350,000 AGCO integrity penalty is a serious, recent mark we weight heavily and won’t paper over. Hold it for the product; keep a cleaner-record book alongside it.
This rating is preliminary, based on public signals and hands-on use, and will firm up once our independent cashier benchmark is complete — and as FanDuel’s penalty matter resolves.
