Northernstakes is a free, reader-supported site. We make money through affiliate relationships with some of the operators we cover. This page explains exactly how that works and why it does not affect our rankings.
How we make money
When you click a "Visit" link and sign up with an operator, we may earn a
commission at no cost to you. Where we have an approved affiliate
agreement, that link is an affiliate link. Where we do not yet have one,
the link points directly to the operator's official Ontario site. In both
cases, outbound operator links carry rel="sponsored nofollow".
Why it doesn't change our rankings
Our scores are set by our published methodology before any commercial conversation. We do not raise an operator's rating, change its position, or soften criticism in exchange for a commission, and commission rates are not an input to our scoring. An operator paying more does not rank higher. We will cover, and criticise, operators we have no commercial relationship with.
What we will never do
- Sell ranking positions or "sponsored #1" placements.
- Hide that a link is commercial.
- Display bonus amounts or inducements (AGCO Standard 2.05).
- Recommend an unlicensed or grey-market operator.
